Step off the train and smell the lavender - Eurostar to Provence

During the summer months take the Eurostar to Avignon with the weekly direct service, and you can arrive in Provence in just over 7 hours - without even changing trains. Trains leave on a Saturday and run from July to September.

This historic, sun-baked city is home to a UNESCO World Heritage listed site in the Palais des Papes, once home to the popes, and, of course the remains of the bridge made famous in the song: "Sur le pont d'Avignon...".

Wander the city's winding medieval streets, browse the city's boutiques and stop for a drink or a plate of couscous in one of the relaxed bars and restaurants (many of which have a strong North African influence) around the central Place de l'Horloge.
